One thing is clear: who likes THE DEVIL IN MISS JONES likes this film, too. MEMORIES WITHIN MISS AGGIE is likely obscure, likely curious and and has a very bad end. It is open to dispute which film is the better one. Both of them are of such high quality that their director Gerard Damiano is quite rightly considered as one of the most famous and as well best porn maker.
Characteristic for his films in the 70ies is that sex is not only pictured as a sensual act but also as something tragical, even more destructive. An ideal sex world does exist neither in MISS JONES nor in WATERPOWER for Damiano who describes his films as an extreme form of expression of arts. It seems as if he wanted to demonstrate that DEEP THROAT, who was meant to be a blithe classic, was an exception, a delusion - what he IS indeed. Well, no one stroked on the idea that MEMORIES WITHIN MISS AGGIE originates from the same director.
The heroine of the film (here acted by Norah Ashira) strays through her dreary home, she talks to a strange man in wheelchair, plays with a cat, brews tea, looks at herself in the mirror. She thinks of bygone times, whereby is always unclear if these are real memories or only utopian dreams. In flashbacks we see the young Miss Aggie (Kim Pope) who lets herself deflorate by an unknown man; the lonesome Miss Aggie (Mary Stuart) who gets self-gratification by a real doll before she gets a horny ass-fuck; and finally the obsessed Miss Aggie (Darby Lloyd Rains) who masturbates as a whore before an odd guys' nose in order to drink his sperm compulsively. Very sensual but somehow disastrous images present to our eyes.
The film ends not a bit sensual but rather brutal. Something must have gone wrong in Miss Aggies life, cause in order not to be alone any more, she kills a gentleman who is accidentally on a visit to her but sadly wants to stay for a single night. At first she cuts out one of his eyes, and then feasts her eyes on his pains before she stops his life. As things turn out this man is the mentioned one in the wheelchair respectively his decayed body. This body is from now on the one and only reference person resp. reference body.
It is over and over remarkable when porn shines not only with sex but also with suspense, convincing actresses/actors and especially with ambience. MEMORIES WITHIN MISS AGGIE is therefore a prime example! The film abducts ourselves believably into a dark dream world and creates in a mere 73 minutes whereof "reputable" films find too hard a nut to crack. This exceptional porn gets an "A"!
